2013 tcm SUTS Blogathon Day 20: Hattie McDaniel

Welcome to DAY TWENTY of the 2013 Summer Under the Stars blogathon! It’s hard to believe we’re two-thirds done!

Today we will spotlight bloggers who will spotlight … Hattie McDaniel!

First, a little Hattie McDaniel trivia … According to IMDb (so it MUST be true), McDaniel willed her Oscar to Howard University, but it was lost during race riots during the 1960s and has never been found.

SUTS and Oscar: Hattie McDaniel was nominated for one Oscar:

Best Supporting Actress for 1939’s Gone With the Wind (winner – this also marked the first time in history that an African American was nominated for – and won – an Academy Award)

Now onto the blogging!
