2013 tcm SUTS Blogathon Day 13: Mickey Rooney

Welcome to DAY THIRTEEN of the 2013 TCM Summer Under the Stars blogathon, but there’s nothing unlucky here!

Today we will spotlight bloggers who will spotlight the legendary Mickey Rooney!

First, a little Mickey Rooney trivia … According to IMDb (so it MUST be true), Rooney became the first teen (19) nominated for an Oscar in a leading role for Babes in Arms.

SUTS and Oscar: In addition to a Juvenile Award in 1939 (shared with Deanna Durbin) and an honorary Oscar he was awarded in 1983, Mickey Rooney has been nominated for four Oscars: Best Actor, 1939’s Babes in Arms (lost to Robert Donat for Goodbye, Mr. Chips); Best Actor, 1943’s The Human Comedy (lost to Paul Lukas for Watch on the Rhine); Best Supporting Actor, 1956’s The Bold and the Brave (lost to Anthony Quinn for Lust for Life); Best Supporting Actor, 1979’s The Black Stallion (lost to Melvyn Douglas for Being There).

Now onto the blogging!
