2013 tcm SUTS Blogathon Day 7: Fred MacMurray

Welcome to DAY SEVEN of the 2013 TCM Summer Under the Stars blogathon! (Has it been a week already?)

Today we will spotlight bloggers who will spotlight Fred MacMurray!

First, a little MacMurray trivia … According to IMDb AND Wikipedia (so it must be DOUBLY true), Fred MacMurray was the first person named a Disney Legend. The designation is the equivalent to being named to a Disney-specific Hall of Fame. Other Disney Legends include Julie Andrews, Glynis Johns, Angela Lansbury, Kurt Russell, and Phil Collins.

SUTS and Oscar: Fred MacMurray was never nominated for an Oscar.

Now onto the blogging!

We here at Team Bartilucci HQ love Fred MacMurray because he was not only a swell guy, he had range, big-time! “Naughty Fred” roles ranged from dark, dangerous, to sometimes just a plain old heel, like in DOUBLE INDEMNITY, THE APARTMENT, and THE CAINE MUTINY. He should’ve gotten Oscar nominations for those performances. Then again, there’s much to be said to being a swell guy in real life, which Fred was, bless him!
