First, a little Heston trivia … According to IMDb (so it MUST be true), Charlton Heston served as president for both the Screen Actors Guild (1966-1971) and the National Rifle Association (1998-2003)

SUTS and Oscar: In addition to the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award he was given in 1978, Charlton Heston was nominated for, and won, one Oscar – Best Actor, Ben-Hur (1959).
